HOW DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK?

  • Laser Targets Hair

The laser beam targets the melanin in your hair.

  • Energy Converts To Heat

The laser’s light energy converts to heat, which travels down the hair into the hair follicle.

  • Follicle Disabled

This heat disables the follicle, causing the hair to fall out.

  • Process Becomes Permanent

With continued treatments, the follicle stops producing new hair, giving you permanent hair removal.

Why power matters

When it comes to laser hair removal, power matters. One study showed that increasing a diode laser by just 2J/cm² led to significantly better results, with an increase of 30.2%:

  • A diode laser at 12J/cm² removed 50% of hair.
  • At 14J/cm², the results increased to 65.6%.

That’s why we recommend building up to the highest power settings with your Tria 4X Hair Removal Laser for maximum results.

More power = better results.

Our lowest setting = their highest

The closest to in-clinic technology available for home use, our device runs at up to 20 J/cm2. The highest power that is safe for at-home use.

Compared to other at-home devices:

  • Tria 4X Hair Removal Laser is 233% more powerful than leading IPL devices.

HOW WAVELENGTH AFFECTS HAIR REMOVAL RESULTS

Different wavelengths of light and laser penetrate the skin at varying depths, each with unique effects. In the case of hair removal, only specific wavelengths can target melanin in the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding skin. The most commonly used wavelength for hair removal is 810nm.

Here’s why 810nm is the sweet spot:

  • It’s highly absorbed by melanin.
  • It minimises absorption by other molecules in the skin, which reduces discomfort.
  • It’s the wavelength of choice in many top clinical laser systems.

That’s why we built the Tria 4X Hair Removal Laser with 810nm wavelength technology—for results that are both powerful and precise.

IPL VS. LASER

A 10J/cm² diode laser (half the power of ours) has been shown to be up to 90.1% more effective than IPL for long-term hair removal.** Here’s why:

  • Laser devices use a single, focused wavelength—targeting hair precisely.
  • IPL emits a broad spectrum of light, much of which is blocked or wasted.
  • Less targeted = less efficient.
  • Their highest setting = our lowest.
  • Lasers = permanent, IPL = temporary
